Flookburgh C of E Primary School
We hope that you will enjoy browsing our website and gain a flavour of what is so exciting and unique about our school, and the community it serves.
Every day we strive to deliver empowering opportunities for learning, as well as nurturing everyone’s unique attributes and providing high levels of pastoral care. Our school motto, ‘Together, we believe, all can thrive’ emphasises our focus on enabling everyone to be the very best they can be, from whatever their starting point – with no assumptions about what they might be capable of (Psalm 139:14); it acknowledges the biblical foundations of God’s intent for his creation (John 10:10); and the importance of collaboration and community.
Our school is dynamic in its pursuit of ensuring that every child feels valued and known; has a sense of belonging; and is confident in the knowledge that they are both safe and cared for. We encourage our children to have a powerful and effective voice. Through our empowering approaches to learning and personal development, they develop the skills and attitudes needed to effect change for the benefit of all. Providing the opportunities and confidence to make effective choices is at the heart of all we do.
We strive to make learning irresistible and encourage our children to deliberately reach out and grab it – taking ownership of their own learning journey. We actively challenge any notion of fixed ability labelling or identities, and aim to find, develop and polish-up the many talents your child has, or are yet to develop.
Our parents are encouraged to be actively involved in school life, through Collective Worship on Fridays (when we celebrate the learning through our Roots to Success), performances, sports events, providing additional reading opportunities and by engaging with the highly committed Friends of Flookburgh School (FoFS). We have strong links within the community, particularly through the St John’s Parish Church, and the local cluster of schools. This includes a strong partnership Cartmel Priory Secondary School. We work closely with the University of Cumbria, BAE and Siemens to extend opportunities for our children.
We hope the information on our website will give you a sense of our school and answer many of your initial questions. However, the best way to get a real feel for the ethos of our school however is to come and take a look for yourself – we are sure you will not be disappointed!
