During the academic year 2023-2024, we were offered the opportunity to work with a number of schools across the South Lakes to form, ‘The South Lakes PTI Hub’, the aims of which were to:

• Empower and enable schools to strengthen their subject provision and leadership
• Encourage teachers to intrioduce all pupils to challenging and enriching materials and activities
• Enrich and develop teacher’s subject knowledge and impact through academic talks, resources and discussion,and the sharing of best practice
• Motivate techers to consider how to develop engagement, enjoyment, curiosity and intellectual independence within and beyond the curriculum

The PTI (formerly, The Prince’s Teaching Institute) coordinated the Hub and provided three, face-to-face training days for Subject Leads as well as online Maths training for all teaching and support staff to access.  The subject areas we agreed to look at during the year were, History, Science and Art.

For the academic year 2024-25, the focus subject areas are, Geography, Design and Technology and Music. We are very much looking forward to accessing such high-quality professional development throughout the year to benefit and support teaching and learning across the school.
